Callie Thorne Laughs Her Way Through Sex Scene with David Duchovny

Making love on screen is rarely easy, but actress Callie Thorne found playing oppositeCalifornication‘s David Duchovny was a piece of cake – thanks to her leading man.

“I was a big sweaty mess because it’s nerve racking enough doing a guest spot on something and then to have it be [a sex scene], but David made me feel very comfortable,” Thorne, 40, who guest-starred on his Showtime series, told PEOPLE at the season-six premiere of her FX show Rescue Me.

“By the time we situated ourselves under the covers, I took my robe off … and by the time we shot it, David was making me laugh so hard that it didn’t cross my mind that we were in this really strange situation,” she says.

“As far as sex scenes go, I had a blast because I was laughing so much. I think he figured out that I needed to laugh, so he made me laugh and I was very comfortable.”

Both her Californication character and the storyline are a departure from Sheila Keefe, the 9/11 widow Thorne plays on Rescue Me. In her guest-star episode, Duchovny, 49, “is sleeping with my daughter and with me. The twist question is, whether he knows he’s sleeping with both of us,” she says.

Dutch outclass Slovakia to reach quarterfinals

Arjen Robben and Wesley Sneijder fired the Netherlands into the quarterfinals of the 2010 World Cup with a 2-1 victory over Slovakia on Monday.

Robben, starting a game for the first time at the tournament following a hamstring injury, gave his side the lead from the edge of the area after 18 minutes and Sneijder sealed the victory by slotting home a late second.

Robert Vittek scored a consolation penalty for Slovakia with the last kick of the game, which made him the tournament’s joint leading scorer with four goals.

Slovakia, competing at their first World Cup as an independent nation following the division of Czechoslovakia in 1993, caused one of the shocks of the group phase with a 3-2 victory over holders Italy, but they were outclassed by the 1974 and 1978 finalists in Durban.

Bayern Munich winger Robben collected a long ball from Sneijder on the right wing, cut inside two defenders and blasted a left-footed shot into the near corner from the edge of the area.

The Dutch seemed happy to sit back and protect their lead, and with Slovakia offering little in attack, the remainder of the first half was cagey and uninspiring, with Sneijder and Robin Van Persie squandering half-chances for the Netherlands.

Robben almost doubled the Dutch lead early in the second half with an action replay of his first goal, but this time his low strike was brilliantly saved by Jan Mucha.

Moments later, Robben squared the ball for Mark Van Bommel, but his shot struck the goalkeeper full in the face and rebounded safely for Slovakia.

The Slovaks did not create a notable opportunity until 67 minutes had been played, when Dutch goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg tipped Miroslav Stoch’s shot over the bar.

Then striker Vittek found himself through on goal but his powerful drive was pushed aside by Stekelenburg.

Kristen Stewart: My Feet Hate Me

What happens when you promote not one, but two films – on back-to-back red carpets?

For Kristen Stewart, the result is a severe case of the high-heel blues.

“I feel like my feet are really pissed off at me, just because of the shoes,” Stewart told PEOPLE at the premiere of her new indie drama Welcome to the Rileys on Friday. “That’s been the biggest problem.”

One night earlier, the actress, 20, strutted the carpet at the L.A. premiere of the new Twilight film,Eclipse, which she has been promoting around the world. But she says she’s not exhausted by the publicity grind – much the opposite, in fact.

“By the end of the day I actually get really hyper, because it’s then that I have my own time,” she says. “You end up staying up all night and then screwing your morning the next day because you need time to yourself.”

Argentina crushes Mexico to cruise into quarterfinals

Carlos Tevez scored twice as Argentina beat Mexico 3-1 in Johannesburg, South Africa, to set up a meeting with Germany in the quarterfinals of the World Cup.

The Manchester City striker opened the scoring after 25 minutes in controversial fashion when television replays, which were relayed on the giant screens in the stadium, showed he was offside when he received the ball from Lionel Messi and headed into the net.

Despite protests from the Mexican players, the goal was allowed to stand. Argentina doubled its lead when Gonzalo Higuain rounded goalkeeper Oscar Perez to score his fourth goal of the tournament.

Tevez made certain of the victory with a stunning long-range strike into the top corner early in the second half.

Javier Hernandez pulled a goal back for Mexico with a powerful left-footed drive after 70 minutes, but it proved to be little more than a consolation for the Mexicans as Argentina easily claimed the victory.

Manager Diego Maradona’s men almost scored a fourth goal when Perez had to dive to his right in stoppage-time to tip Messi’s shot over the bar.

Mexico, who has now gone out in the last 16 at five World Cups in a row, may feel the result could have been different without the error from the officials.

After seeing the error on the big screens, Mexican players surrounded the referee and his assistant but the officials decided not to revoke the goal.

Bravo’s Shear Genius finalists Janine Jarman and Matthew Morris teamed up again on Saturday, as Jarman married sales executive Matthew Wolcott at the Houdini Mansion in Hollywood.

For the occasion, Morris created two looks for Jarman: A Priscilla Presley-inspired updo for the ceremony and a June Carter-inspired pony tail for the reception.

Jarman, in a custom gown by Jared Gold, walked down the aisle to a choir singing Madonna’s “Like A Prayer.” The groom wore a tuxedo jacket by Prada and cowboy boots with spurs. The couple exchanged non-denominational vows under an altar adorned with paper flowers made out of dress patterns in honor of Jarman’s deceased grandmother.

After the 30-minute ceremony, the 250 guests – including JC Chasez, Ron Fair, and Kevin Martin of Candlebox – enjoyed a romantic outdoor cocktail reception with appetizers such as pigs in a blanket and fried chicken.
